News 08/04/2008 - Silverstone Race Report
(Photos courtesy of Derek Binstead) Qualifying Cars all prepped, scrutineered and ready to go, Piers and Tom got themselves ready for their baptism of fire and went out for qualifying. Weather was nice and sunny and dry. After finding their feet and the session was over, Tom and Piers found out they had qualified 13th and 14th respectively with both on row 7. But after finding out there was some wrong time readings, they actually qualified 12th and 13th with Tom on Row 6 and Piers on row 7. Race 1 Ready and waiting, the heavens opened, So a bit of tactical adjustment of the suspension settings, the boys were ready to go. All lined and waiting for the lights to go out, Piers got himself a great start and got him himself up to 6th place by the 1st corner. Tom got himself away well too and with in 2 laps had got himself to 8th. Piers was having a great race with John Thorne who was in 5th and Tom was holding on to 8th very strongly. Lap 6 Tom has a spin and falls down the field to 20th while Piers is trying to fight for 5th John Thorne make a mistake and falls off, placing Piers in 5th. Lap 9 the race is red flagged and Piers finishes 5th and Tom in 20th. Piers ecstatic with his finish also wins driver of the race! Race 2 Start positions came from the finishing positions of race 1. Piers on row 3 and Tom on row 10. The boys were feeling a slightly bit more confident, it had stopped raining but the circuit still had a lot of standing water, so further suspension adjustments were carried out pre-race. Piers got himself another great start and got to 3rd place before the 1st corner, entering the 1st corner a little racing incident causes Piers to spin off and end his race. Tom worked his way up the field to get to 9th place, but at lap 11 Tom has a moment and drops 2 places to 11th and finishes in 11th position. Race results Race 1 Piers 5th Race 2 Piers. DNF Next race Rockingham.
